Associate Product Owner
Description

The Associate Product Owner will support the Legal Metrology Branch to deliver a major IT enhancement project for DISR; the Trade Measurement Activity and Reporting System Phase 4 Enhancement Project to deliver critical enhancements to the Microsoft Dynamics Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and associated NMI Services Portal (NMISP) as part of NMI’s broader digital strategy.

You will be the key supporting team member working with the DISR Chief Information Officer Division and managers and users within the Legal Metrology and Physical Metrology Branches of the NMI.

You will support the Product Owner to deliver accurate and timely communication of business needs throughout delivery of the project.

You will also support operational implementation of the product within the NMI. You will also have the opportunity to critically review IT processes and procedures to inform continuous improvement.

You will be a team player who understands agile ways of working and human-centred design principles to ensure value for end users.

Responsibilities

Effectively working in an environment with a high level of complexity, sensitivity and operating under broad direction, the duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Support the Business Systems Manager and Digital Business Manager to deliver the Phase 4 Enhancement Project and liaise with both users and managers within the Legal Metrology and Physical Metrology Branches regarding end-user requirements.
  2. Maintenance and prioritisation of the product backlog.
  3. Coordination and facilitation of user acceptance testing for the product.
  4. Support the delivery of product development from start to finish, including operational implementation.
  5. Support the Product Owner as the primary contact between the product development teams and stakeholders, working to ensure all stakeholders are aligned at each stage of the development lifecycle.
  6. Other tasks relevant to the Phase 4 Enhancement Project or digital capability of the Legal Metrology and Physical Metrology Branches as directed by the Manager, Programs and Governance or the Product Owner.

Skills

The capabilities listed below describe the specific skills, knowledge and behaviours required to successfully perform this job role, operating with a significant degree of independence and under broad direction:

  1. Demonstrated experience as an Associate or Supporting Product Owner supporting the delivery of IT enhancement projects, including a working understanding of Agile methodologies and human centred design principles.
  2. Experience managing all stages of the product life cycle.
  3. Experience in delivery or use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and associated Microsoft tools.
  4. Well-developed oral and written communication skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, including well developed negotiation and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  5. Personal drive and integrity in the context of the Australian Public Service values, NMI values and code of conduct.
  6. Background, training or certification in product management, Professional Scrum Product Owner, certified SAFe Product Owner or similar will be highly regarded.
