The Infrastructure Platforms team is responsible for the management of all data centers, virtualization, automation, storage, backup and restore capability. The team is also responsible for providing after hours on-call support for our infrastructure. The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for operation of the two departmental Data Centers.
You will take ownership of the current project to replace the aging UPS and AC in our primary Data Centre location.
You will oversee managing daily operations of the primary Data Centre, including UPS and AC monitoring. Handling rack management, cabling and space optimization, you will co-ordinate with vendors for maintenance, upgrades and compliance, monitoring system performance and utilization through various systems including vROPs and EcoStruxure DCO/DCE. You will also enforce security and best practice frameworks to ensure the best possible uptime.
The department is seeking to progressing a project to upgrade its on-prem data centre infrastructure in the coming months, and you will be a key technical resource to support this project, with overall project management and installation works to be carried out by third parties.

Essential criteria:
1. Ability to deliver day-to-day operation of a Data Centre: • Rack management and cabling experience. • Co-ordinate with vendors for maintenance, upgrades and compliance. • Monitor system performance and utilization through various systems including vROPs and EcoStruxure DCE/DCO. • Enforce security and best practise frameworks to ensure the best possible uptime.
2. Demonstrated ability in delivery of Data Centre upgrades around AC and UPS. Including: • Demonstrated knowledge of, or ability to undertake research and anslysis of, current market offerings • Ability to provide informed and technically sound insight into pro’s and cons of differing systems and technologies
3. Ability to produce design, build and operations documents for processes and procedures.
4. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills to work with skilled technical people, including making presentations to staff and stakeholders and coaching staff.
Desirable criteria
1. Working knowledge of Government security frameworks up to a Protected level. Specifically, regarding Essential 8 and the PSPF.
